Welcome to the Era of Cleaning Up AI's Mess

People say AI will destroy the freelance market. I think it's doing the opposite. It's creating more software, more technical debt, and more opportunities for developers who can take responsibility.

"Can you save a project AI messed up?"

I'm seeing this kind of request more and more in the freelance market.

But honestly?

This isn't anything new.

We've always seen requests like:

"Our previous developer disappeared after making a mess of the project. Can you fix it?"

The only difference now...

...is that "AI" has replaced "developer." 😄

AI Isn't Ruining Freelancing

A lot of people say AI is going to ruin the freelance market.

I don't think so.

Freelancing has always involved rescuing broken projects.

The only thing that's changed is that we're now dealing with AI-generated technical debt alongside human-generated technical debt.

More Software Means More Responsibility

In fact, I think the freelance market is going to grow.

AI will enable more people to build products.

Which also means there will be more products to maintain, improve, and rescue.

The developers who thrive won't be the ones who avoid AI.

They'll be the ones who use AI well—and still take full responsibility for what they deliver.

One Thing I've Noticed

One funny thing I've noticed...

AI-generated code tends to break in surprisingly similar ways.

After you've seen enough of it, you can almost tell exactly what happened. 😅

The Opportunity

If you're a freelance developer...

Welcome to the era of cleaning up AI's mess.
